Realistic Campfire Mechanics

In Minecraft, you can craft a bonfire that emits light and makes it possible to cook food if you do not have a furnace. To do that, it is enough just to click the RMB while holding the food in your hands. Once it is prepared, it will drop. So players use campfires as a default means for these purposes, but additionally, they can also be installed below a hive to smoke bees out. However, such mechanics are far from reality. If you were to ask why, they are lit automatically and do not extinguish during rain. That is why the designer of the Unlit Campfire add-on has decided to rework the standard campfires and add more features to them.

The Unlit Campfire mod is aimed at changing the standard mechanics of campfires in Minecraft and making them realistic. So if you would like to bring the game closer to reality, you should necessarily add this mod to your build, even though it does not significantly affect the gameplay. However, with such a functional block, you can survive in almost any biome that has wood. It allows you to quickly cook food and replenish the saturation and hunger points of your character. The main task of the Unlit Campfire mod is to add more realism to the in-game campfires so that the player can interact with them roughly in the same way as in real life: we do not immediately get a burning campfire, it goes out if the fire is not maintained or it rains, etc. Accordingly, the designer has decided to implement the following features:

· Burning Time. Each bonfire now has a certain burning cycle, after which it will automatically go out. By default, it is 2000 ticks, but you can change this parameter in the settings.

· Extinguishing During Rains. Weather conditions directly affect how long your campfire will burn. If drops fall on them, the fire will subsequently go out and disappear. Accordingly, in the biomes with high humidity and torrential rains, you will have to light fires more often and keep them burning.

· Item Drop. If the fire goes out, all the items that were cooked on it will be dropped.

· Auto Destruction. In the mod's settings, you can adjust the parameter responsible for automatically destroying a campfire after it goes out. That is also essentially as in real life, when ash and coal remnants are blown away by the wind.

· Burning Prolongation. You will now be able to extend the burning time of a campfire by throwing firewood, branches, and sticks into it. This function is enabled by default, so you will not have to configure anything.

· Sleep Time. It is another interesting mechanic added by the Unlit Campfire mod. All the in-game campfires will be affected by the player's sleep and waking cycle. That is, if this option is enabled, they will automatically go out while you are sleeping, which saves time.

· Indefinite Burning. If you wish, you will be able to activate a parameter that will make all the campfires burn indefinitely. However, you will also need magma cream for that.

· Generated Campfires. The above mechanics can also be applied to those campfires that appear by default in the game world when generating maps and biomes. If you want them to burn indefinitely, activate this parameter.

All the described changes relate not only to ordinary campfires but also to soul campfires in the Nether. So the latter will also be affected by weather conditions: of course, if you light them in the Overworld, as the weather in the Nether is stable. The mechanics of extinction, decay, and other features described in this review will also apply to them.

The campfire is not a particularly significant functional block for Minecraft players, but thanks to it, you can cook food at any time without having to collect cobblestones and craft a furnace. That is why mods like Unlit Campfire will be in demand, especially among players who would like to make Minecraft more realistic. Here, the designer has indeed done a good job and added a lot of interesting mechanics to the game. Another important feature is the possibility of finely adjusting everything both for solo playing or a server. You can choose which parameters to disable or enable for yourself.

The effect of weather conditions on campfires is indeed a cool feature. You will thus now be able to capture full-fledged videos and take screenshots of the fire gradually going out because it started raining. By accelerating or slowing down these videos, you can get nice visual content related to Minecraft to upload to YouTube and other platforms. It is difficult to show in the screenshots how much the campfire interaction mechanics change after installing Unlit Campfire, so it is better to try this mod once than to read the review several times.
